the trouble with enlightenment

... when you finally grasp the truth about the
universe, the world, and your position in the
whole scheme, you get that inevitable death

... you want to get off of earth

... there are better places to be

... then comes the tortuous conflict which
Shakespeare first identified:
To be, or not to be?

... self-preservation kicks in, and you try to find
solace in a life of helping others, the Buddhist
compassionate way, only to realize that other people's
lives are their own karma, and you are just butting
in on their business

... finally you realize that can't help truly
help anyone, other than your self

... like I said, enlightenment is a troubling load
